Guwahati: Tensions erupted in front of the Gohpur Police Station in Sonitpur district of Assam after the infant’s father was taken into custody on suspicion of killing his own son.
The father has been missing since the one-year- old’s mortal remains were found in a paddy field in Gohpur.
According to reports, the locals have gheraoed the Gohpur Police Station and demanded that the accused father face heavy punishment.
The main accused in the despicable case has been identified as Sachin Bordoloi of Gohpur, the father of the infant victim. He is charged with brutally murdering his own son on his first birthday.
It should be noted that the father, Sachin Bordoloi, allegedly left their home on Thursday with the child but did not come back. Later on, the child’s lifeless body was found in a nearby paddy field in Gohpur.
The father was nowhere to be found after the incident came to light with the recovery of the body of the child in Gohpur. This led to suspicions being directed on him.
The shocking incident came to the fore yesterday after the body of the one-year-old was found in Assam’s Gohpur. It was later revealed that the child would have been celebrating its first birthday; however, his life was cut short.
After learning about the incident, the child’s mother rushed to the Gohpur scene where the body was found. She found her dead child there and sobbed uncontrollably.
Initial reports state that a bicycle and a shopping bag were also recovered close to the crime scene in Gohpur. According to reports, the father had brought the child along under the pretence of going shopping.
