Guwahati Railway Station Now Has The First-Ever “Trans Tea Stall”

Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on March 10 inaugurated a transgender-run tea shop called “Trans Tea Stall” in an effort to support the transgender population.

The All Assam Transgender Association actively assisted in the creation of the Trans tea stall which is the first of its type and an initiative by NFR to be opened in any railway station in the nation, according to a railway official.

The tea stall was launched at Guwahati’s Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Office complex.

”Anshul Gupta, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway inaugurated the Trans tea stall at platform no 1 of Guwahati railway station on March 10 in the presence of Swati Bidhan Baruah, Associate Vice Chairman of the transgender Welfare Board of Assam,” said Sabyasachi De CPRO of NF Railway.

It is important to note that the programme is a component of the Center’s all-encompassing plan for transgender people called “Support for Marginalized People for Livelihood and Entrepreneurship,” which also includes a sub-plan for thorough rehabilitation for the welfare of transgender people.

According to reports, the NFR is considering operating additional of these Trans tea booths in other regional train stops.
