Two Active Kuki Chin National Army Cadres Held by Assam Rifles in Mizoram

Guwahati: Two KCNA cadres were arrested by the Assam Rifles in the Mizorami village of Hmunnuam in the Lawngtalai district.

The two Bangladeshi nationals cadres who were apprehended, one is a high ranking cadre who was allegedly present at a KCNA meeting in Bungtlang where a scheme to bring weapons into Myanmar from Bangladesh was being discussed.

On their way back they took a halt at a location where Bangladeshi illegal immigrants have been resettled. 

The Assam Rifles started an operation that assisted in apprehending the suspects after receiving precise information about their activities and whereabouts.

When confronted both of the accused cadres attempted to flee but an officer and jawan from the Assam Rifles tracked and caught them.

Meanwhile, over the past few months the conflict in Chittagong between the Kuki-National Army (KNA) and Bangladeshi Army has got worse.

The Kuki-National Army (KNA), a militant group of the Kuki-Chin population has been advocating for the establishment of the Kuki-Chin people’s homeland in the CHT.

On the other hand, as tensions between the insurgent group and the Bangladesh Army have risen several refugees from the Kuki tribe in Bangladesh have started entering Mizoram in search of safety.
