Tripura Youth Arrested By Assam Police For Links With Rohingya Trafficking
Guwahati: A group of Assam police have arrested a young man from the South Tripura district for his alleged involvement in the trafficking of Rohingya people out of Bangladesh.
The accused have been identified as Dipanjan Baidya who is a resident of Hrishyamukh area under Belonia sub-division.
According to reports, Baidya was arrested on Monday and transported to Karimganj for a case of Rohingya trafficking inquiry.
When a group of Rohingya were arrested by the police in Karinganj, Assam and during interrogation, Dipanjan’s name was cropped out.
Later, a raid was carried out at the residence of Baidya jointly with Tripura police.
Further investigation is underway.
