Several Fish Found Dead at Tributary of Umiam lake In Meghalaya
Guwahati: Several dead fish were discovered at a stream of the Umiam lake in the village of Umtiekh Plyllun in the Ro Bhoi district of Meghalaya on March 17.
According to reports, many are assuming that the cause of the deaths of several fish were caused by poisoning.
In the wake of the incident, the Umktieh Pyllun and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) unit has condemned the callous behaviour of a small group of people who are accused of poisoning the tributary which claimed the lives of various species of fish.
The organisations have requested the protection of the local aquatic life, issued severe warnings against the offenders and asked for swift action against those responsible.
Both organizations have also requested to the citizens to protect the environment from further damage.
