Kuro-Tamago egg which is also called Black Egg .You must have seen a lot of white eggs, you must have eaten them but have you ever seen the black egg of a hen? You would say that the egg can become black after burning but naturally it cannot be a black egg. But in Japan, a black colored egg is seen which everyone is surprised to see. We are talking about Kuro-Tamago egg which is called Black Egg.
According to reports, there is a Great Boiling Valley in Japan named Owakudani, Japan. It is located on Mount Hakone. It was formed 3000 years ago due to volcanic eruption. There was such a strong explosion here that even today there are small ponds of boiling water in the area. People present here boil a simple egg of hen in these ponds which becomes black in color.
This black egg is called Kuro Tamago. It is believed that whoever eats these black eggs boiled in water of Ovakudani will increase 7-8 years more in his life. But the question arise that if the egg belongs to the hen and there is no specialty in it and the water is also boiling then how does it turn black.
Actually, the eggs becomes black through a chemical reaction with geothermal heat and volcanic gas as iron properties (an ingredient of the hot spring water) adhere to the porous shells. The black color of iron sulfide is a result of a reaction with hydrogen sulfide and it produces boiled eggs with black shells.
Eggs are boiled in large quantities in these waters and many tourist visit there to and eat these eggs. The process of boiling the eggs are very easy. The eggs are filled in a large metal crate and put in water for an hour. The temperature of water is up to 80 degrees Celsius. They are then steamed for 15 minutes to 100 degrees Celsius. They come out black but the inside parts come out in white and yellow colors. People are given 5 eggs for Rs 300 that is 35 years for Rs 300!
