Assam: Retired Cop Held with Fake Indian Currency Notes

Guwahati: Assam Police confiscated fake Indian rupee notes from a retired police on Monday morning in the Nagaon district.

According to reports, the former police officer was arrested by the police in Borbheti with fake currency whose value has not yet been determined.

The accused has been identified as Abdul Ali who is a resident of Dhing.

It is established that Ali worked as a constable for the 16 Assam Police Battalion.

The police have started an investigation into the matter and more investigation is ongoing.

On April 8, Guwahati city police arrested a person in the Khanapara area who was in possession of a sizable quantity of fake money.

The accused was arrested by a team from Basistha PS, the East District Special Operations Group (SOG) team, the Khanapara Traffic OP Team and members of the general public.

Several large quantities of fake currency worth Rs 2, 93,000 were reportedly confiscated from his possession. The police had started an inquiry into the incident in light of the recovery in order to find his accomplices and the source of the fake money notes.

Additionally, the police had asked locals to inspect the money notes before they were accepted by merchants, vendors and residents.
