Pro Khalistan Leader Amritpal Singh Taken to Dibrugarh Jail Amid Tight Security

Guwahati: A pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and the head of “Waris Punjab De” landed to the Dibrugarh Central jail on April 23 amid high security.

After ‘Waris Punjab De’ had been the target of a crackdown for several weeks, Amritpal Singh surrenders. After he surrenders, he was to be flown to Assam and kept in the Dibrugarh jail under strict security measures.

Prior to this, he was flown to the Dibrugarh district of Assam by a special Indian Air Force (IAF) plane under heavy security and he was then taken straight to the Dibrugarh central jail.

After he surrenders to the police this morning, Singh was apprehended in Punjab’s Monga and transported to Dibrugarh on a chartered flight from Bathinda.

The IGP for Punjab Sukhchain Singh Gill stated to the media that Amritpal Singh had no choice but to surrender.

”He was arrested at around 6.45 am today morning in Rode, the native village of Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, who was killed in Operation Blue Star,” he added.

Punjab Police has also invoked the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against the Khalistani leader.
