Assam: TMC Launches Social Media Campaign Against Price Hike

Guwahati: Assam unit of Trinamool Congress launched a social media campaign on Tuesday against increases in the cost of necessities throughout the state.

Trinamool Congress leader from Assam, Ripun Bora said, “TMC unit in Assam has launched a massive campaign against on social media with regards to recent hike is the price of commodities.”

The TMC leader further alleged that since the BJP took power in Assam in 2014, the state experienced a steady increase in the price of necessities while the government did nothing to stop it.

While this was going on, Bengal’s Coochbihar a BJP stronghold served as the departure point for Abhishek Banerjee national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), on his “Jono Sanjog Yatra.”

For the next two months, Banerjee would travel from Coochbihar in North Bengal to Sagar in South Bengal, holding three to four sessions daily and conducting a covert election.

“We will hold three-four meetings a day,” Abhishek Banerjee revealed. In the evening, we will meet with local residents, who will then vote for their preferred candidate. From there, candidates for panchayats will be announced. The vote is ‘Gramme Banglar Mothamoth’ for the Jono Sanjog Jatra. This will be any political party’s first try.”
