Guwahati: Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh cancelled his trip to Churachandpur district amid disturbances by unidentified miscreants in CM’s venue and some few areas.
According to reports, Manipur police used tear gas to disperse a crowd that had gathered outside the PT Sports Complex entrance.
Manipur CM responded to the unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday and set a Churachandpur open gym on fire by saying that malicious acts by unidentified miscreants are a common occurrence because miscreants are around.
However, BJP government would not put up with such anti-social behavior and action would be taken very soon by whoever is involved in the case.
Additionally, he asserted that the incident was a constituent issue rather than a protest against the government.
The event was organized to celebrate MLA 58-Churachandpur’s first anniversary to which the MLA personally sent an invitation.
They requested that the open gym at the PT Sports Complex in New Lamka, which is part of the Churachandpur district be inaugurated as part of the programme.
But regrettably, it had been destroyed by some miscreants.
The 58-Churachandpur MLA had provided justifications and given instructions to reschedule the programme.
