Punjab: Gas Leak at Factory in Ludhiana, 11 Killed
Guwahati: As many as eleven people including two children were killed after a gas leaked at a factory on Suwa Road near Giaspura in Ludhiana of Punjab on Sunday morning.
Many more people are in danger of getting trapped at the same time. The gas leak was first noticed around 7.15am.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over the gas leakage in Ludhiana. “Teams of police, administration and NDRF reached the spot. All help is being provided to the victims. “
Swati of SDM Ludhiana West said that, certainly the NDRF team reached the spot where the gas was being released and evacuated people and carried out rescue operations.
As many as eleven people were dead and several others have been hospitalised while the rescue teams along with doctors and ambulances have been immediately reached the spot.
The entire area has been cordoned off and national disaster response force or NDRF teams have been sent from Bathinda for rescue operations.
It is to be noted that the accident took place in a building located in Gyrasapura. There was a dairy booth in the building and whoever went here in the morning to get milk fell unconscious. The incident then came to light.
However, it is still under investigation as to which gas leaked and the reason behind the incident.
People within a radius of 300 metres from the leak are facing problems to breathe which has left people away from the area. Police and civil administration officials have provided help and assistance at the spot. Ambulances of social organisations have also extended their hands to help, to bring out the affected people.
