Guwahati, 7 May: Prominent singer of Assam Rishiraj Sarma, the son of renowned vocalist Sudakshina Sarma passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Sharma (RishiRaj Sarma) had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time. He recovered to some extent after undergoing a kidney transplant in Kolkata at the end of prolonged treatment. And he also performed at Hotel Radisson on Saturday.
However, he was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital at around 7.30 a.m. after his health suddenly deteriorated. This is where he breathed his last. According to doctors the singer died of a heart attack.
Sarma was a successful career in music but he was also a lawyer and had practiced law. He was well-liked in both the legal and musical communities and his loss has created a vacuum in both fields. Sarma made significant contributions to both the legal and musical worlds.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the death of the singer Rishiraj Sharma.
