Meghalaya: CM Conrad K. Sangma Submits Proposal to Centre to Build Heliports at Shillong and Tura

National Desk, 12 May: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in New Delhi today (May 12) and gave him a proposal to build heliports in Tura and Shillong.
Chief minister also informed the union minister of the necessity to operationalize the Baljek Airport and to build an international airport in Meghalaya.

“These proposals are aimed at boosting our state’s tourism potential & economic growth through air connectivity,” Sangma tweeted on Friday (May 12).

In order to further enhance air connectivity, Sangma stated when he submitted the budget to the house in March of this year that heliports will be built in Shillong and Tura. Additionally, he advised funding Rs. 15.5 crore for the state’s improved aviation connection.

CM stated that the suggestions are intended to increase the State’s tourism potential and economic growth through air connectivity during their conversation.
