Linda Yaccarino To Take Over as Twitter CEO
International Desk, 13 May: Twitter owner Elon Musk has chosen a new chief executive officer (CEO) for the company just six months after his contentious purchase of the micro-blogging network. The Canadian millionaire announced that Linda Yaccarino will be in charge of managing the company operations at the location which has had trouble turning a profit. Elon Musk stated that Yaccarino, the former chief of advertising at NBCUniversal will begin her new job at Twitter in six weeks.
Meanwhile, Musk will remain as the executive chairman and chief technology officer at Twitter. He wrote on Twitter, “Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app,” to confirm the decision a day after he had wrote about finding a new boss without revealing their identity.
Elon Musk who paid USD 44 billion for the social networking platform last year had been under pressure to find a new CEO so that he could focus on his other businesses such as electric car maker Tesla and rocket firm SpaceX.
Yaccarino has progressively risen through the ranks of some of America’s largest media organisations to become that uncommon example of a woman leading a significant digital company. Less than 10% of Fortune 500 tech companies are currently led by women.
