Adil Hussain Wins Best Actor Award in UK Asian Film Festival

Guwahati, 16 May: Assam born actor Adil Hussain won the Best Actor award in the UK Asian Film Festival for his film Footprints On Water.

Tongues on Fire Ltd., a non-profit corporation organises the UK Asian Film Festival which was earlier known as the London Asian Film Festival. The Adil Hussain starrer was one of the many attractions which took place from May 4 to May 14.

The film also marked the directorial debut of Nathalia Syam and stars Nimisha Sajayan, Lena and Danny Sura alongside Adil Hussain in lead roles.

In addition to winning for best actor, the movie also won for “best debut film.”

It should be noted that on May 11, the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) presented the title of “Best Debut Film” to the film “Footprints on Water” which starred Adil Hussain an internationally renowned actor from Assam.

The NYIFF made the announcement on their official Twitter handle on Wednesday, “Celebrating an Extraordinary Journey! Footprints On Water wins the prestigious title of “Best Debut Film” at NYIFF, as acclaimed by the Film Critics Circle of India. This captivating masterpiece has left lasting impression, stirring hearts with its profound storytelling and mesmerizing performance.”

A filmmaker and producer from Assam Shiladitya Bora has previously won the Best Film award at the UK Asian Film Festival for his feature directorial debut, “Bhagwan Bharose.”

According to a press release, the festival’s concluding film on May 13 at the Kiln Theatre in North West London was the coming-of-age drama in Hindi that is based on a Sudhakar Neelmani narrative.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Shiladitya Bora said, “My first feature film as Director. My first award. This one is definitely special. ‘Bhagwan Bharose’ wins the BEST FILM at the 25th UK Asian Film Festival, London. Humbled and Hopeful #BhagwanBharoseTheFilm”
