Summer Riding: Do You Ride Bike Everyday? Take These Precautions in Summer While Riding Bike
Guwahati,16 May: Let’s know the precautions to be taken by bikers during summers and tips to follow, for a safe journey.
One should be careful not only while riding bikes but also in terms of traffic during summers. India’s temperature has risen sharply over the past few days. Too much heat affects the functioning of the vehicle. Mechanical experts asked them to raise awareness on these issues. Let’s know the precautions to be taken by bikers during summers and tips to follow for a safe journey.
Don’t park in sunlight: Don’t park the bike in direct sunlight. Although exposure to too much sun makes one look attractive at first but the colour of the bike gradually fades away.
Servicing: The bike should be regularly done servicing during summers. Always make sure that it is in favour.
Engines should be switched off in traffic: The engine should be switched off while in traffic, even if it is for about 30 seconds in a short period of time. With this, the engine rests and cools down. Restarting the engine may cost a little more fuel but the engine’s condition becomes good.
The use of clutch should be reduced: It is better to reduce the use of clutch while riding bikes in summers. Excessive use of clutch will damage the clutch plate and valve in the combustion chamber. There is a risk of any other fluid entering the combustion chamber if the valve is damaged. This disrupts the air fuel mixture. As a result, the efficiency and life expectancy of the bike decreases.
Correct liquid level: The liquid or oil cooling level should be checked on the bike. If these fluids are low, heat will increase and the smoke will be high. This leads to possible damage to the engine. Liquids should be checked to avoid any problem while riding.
Brake: Don’t rely on brakes in summer unless absolutely necessary. The speed of the bike should be controlled. Do not travel at high speed. It generates heat on the metal brake pad when brakes are applied hard and frequently during hot conditions. This causes the brake pads to decay quickly.
There shouldn’t be too much gas filled on tyres: Bike tyres should not have too much gas filled in summer. The amount of air should be slightly lower than the recommended level. About one-and-a-half PSIs. The rubber expands due to heat. It affects the tyre while travelling on a hot road.
