Kiren Rijiju Removed as Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal Appointed as Law Minister
National Desk, 18 May: In a significant reshuffle in PM Modi’s Cabinet, Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed the Law Ministry porfolio while Kiren Rijiju has been moved to the Earth Sciences Ministry. On May 18, the announcement was made on the direction of President of India as adviced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An official letter informing about the reshuffle stated, “The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister has been pleased to direct the following reallocation of portfolios among Ministers in the Union Council of Ministers: (i) The portfolio of Ministry of Earth Sciences be assigned to Shri Kiren Rijiju.
(ii) Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State be assigned the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice in addition to his existing portfolios, in place of Shri Kiren Rijiju”
Reacting to the sudden decision, Shiv Sena took a dig at the Centre without taking any names. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, “Is it because of the Maharashtra judgement embarrassment? Or the Modani- SEBI investigation?”
