Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta Inaugurates High Fidelity Simulation Skill Lab
Guwahati, 25 May: A High Fidelity Simulation Skill Lab was inaugurated on Thursday at the Emergency Building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in an effort to improve the healthcare facility of Assam.
The USAID RISE initiative provided financial assistance for the lab’s construction. Training in the lab can help future medical science students, professor-doctors, nurses and other professionals gain expertise.
The official event was conducted at the GMCH auditorium under the direction of Dr. Achyut Baishya, the medical college’s principal. Assam Health minister Keshab Mahanta who was also the event’s keynote guest inaugurated the High Fidelity Simulation Skill Lab.
Speaking to the medical students on the occasion, the health minister noted that the Assam chief minister had given special consideration to the students’ educational needs.
Keshab Mahanta said, “This is the visionary leadership of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. With this, the state has created a roadmap to establish such state-of-the-art skill labs in medical colleges. This lab is a USAID funded and Jhpiego-led initiative under the RISE project that aims at building resilient and responsive health system.”
