National Desk, 1 May: Delhi experienced its coolest May in 36 years in 2023’s May and more rains have been predicted, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhi has received excessive rains with the average maximum temperature down to 36.8 degree Celsius.
The average maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius in May of this year is the lowest since then, according to Kuldeep Srivastava head of IMD’s regional forecasting centre. The IMD has also forecast that rain and thunderstorms will continue throughout Thursday over northwest India.
Over the next three days, heatwave conditions are also anticipated in West Bengal and Bihar. For the upcoming days, yellow advisories have been issued for Bengaluru and Delhi. A yellow notice has been issued for eight districts including Bengaluru, in Karnataka because heavy rain is expected there until June 4.
Another western disturbance is also expected to approach India’s northern plains including Delhi, according to the weather department. Rainfall and storms are anticipated to accompany this disturbance.
