PM Modi to address US Parliament for Second Time, Says “feel honored”

National Desk, 11 June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is proud of its all-round global strategic partnership with the US based on shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties and unwavering commitment to world peace and prosperity. He thanked House of Representatives Chairman Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Sak Schumer, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Democrats for being invited to address a joint meeting of the US Congress during a visit to the US later this month. This comment was in a tweet thanking leader Hakim Jeffriz.

Prime Minister said, “Thanks to Kevin McCarthy, Miss McConnell, Sak Schumer and Hakim Jeffries for this invitation. I am honoured to accept it and look forward to addressing the joint meeting of the Congress again.”

He said we are proud of our extensive Global Strategic Partnership with america which is built on shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties and unwavering commitment to world peace and prosperity.

PM Modi will address a joint session of the US Congress on June 22. Top US Congress leaders on Friday announced that Modi will share India’s vision for the future and speak on the global challenges facing the two countries. President Joe Biden will host Prime Minister Modi’s official state visit on June 22 which will also host a royal dinner.

In a statement, US leaders said, “It is our honour to invite you (Prime Minister Modi) on behalf of the bilateral leadership of the American House of Representatives and the US Senate to address a joint meeting of Congress on June 22. This is the second time since June 2016 that Modi will address a joint meeting of the US Congress.”
