Assam police detained Sikha Sharma for FB Post on deceased BJP leader
Guwahati, 16 June: Shikha Sharma has been detained by the Dispur police for allegedly making objectionable remarks about BJP leader Jonali Nath on social media Facebook.
A case was registered against Shikha Sharma at Dispur police station for making objectionable remarks by controversial Shikha Sharma on social media. On the basis of that case, Shikha Sharma was detained by Dispur Police from its residence in Guwahati on Thursday night.
According to reports, Shikha Sharma can be detained by dispur police at any moment.
Shikha Sharma had to go to jail for making controversial remarks in the past as well. Shikha Sharma recently took to social media Facebook to question the character of deceased BJP leader Jonali Nath which evoked strong reactions.
Sarma was detained following an FIR lodged by the Assam State Commission for Women. The Assam Commission for Women also appealed to the Assam Police through a letter seeking a probe into this Facebook post.
Assam Commission for Women in a letter to the Director General of Assam Police has requested it to take strict action against such acts. Later, on Thursday, Assam Commission for Women (AEC) chairperson Hemprabha Borthakur issued a notice to the Director General of Assam Police seeking action taken report within three days to investigate the allegations. After the notification sent by the commission became public, various questions have been raised about this issue.
