Assam CM inaugurates bridge over river Gangadhar
Guwahati, 20June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday officially inaugurated the much-anticipated bridge over river Gangadhar in the Dhubri district.
Speaking to reporters, chief minister claimed that the 25 km-long bridge had only been able to reduce travel time by a minute. A long-standing local demand of the people of Golakganj, comprising the entire Dhubri district has now been granted, according to CM Sarma.
Chief Minister chose to use the road rather than a helicopter to get to the venue of the inauguration ceremony at Golakganj of Dhubri due to the poor weather conditions.
CM Sarma announced on Twitter that the state government is constructing around 95 bridges across the state that cross numerous rivers.
The 682.55-meter-long bridge spans the Gangadhar River between Golakganj and Kanuri costing Rs. 73.92 crore. Every day, the bridge will help about 20,000 passengers.
The bridge will assist the community and aid in boosting economic activity in the Dhubri District’s areas connecting Lakhimari Gaon Panchayat and Golakganj Municipal Area.
