Man stays at 5 Star Hotel for 2 Years without paying bills

National Desk, 21 June: A five-star hotel in Delhi filed a FIR against a guest who stayed at the hotel for years without making any payment, according to reports that surfaced on Wednesday.

The hotel Roseate House in Aerocity near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport claims to have lost up to Rs. 58 lakh as a result of the accused guest’s nearly two-year stay without paying.

According to reports, the accused identified as Ankush Dutta conspired with other employees including Prem Prakash head of the Roseate House Hotel’s Front Office Department who had the power to set room rates and access to the hotel system to monitor all guests’ debts to permit the guest’s prolonged stay in violation of hotel policies.

An authorised agent of Bird Airports Hotel Private Limited Vinod Malhotra which manages Roseate filed a FIR at the police station after becoming aware of the event and the losses the hotel had sustained.

“A criminal conspiracy was hatched by guest Mr Ankush Dutta along with some known and unknown hotel staff, including Mr Prem Prakash with a motive to gain wrongfully and deprive the hotel of its rightful dues,” the FIR reads.

“In pursuance of the said conspiracy, the alleged staff of the hotel forged, deleted, added accounts entries and falsified a large number of entries in the account of the said guest Ankush Dutta in the Opera software system of the hotel,” it added.

The guest checked in on May 30, 2019 booked a room for one night and was scheduled to leave on May 31 but he kept extending his stay until January 22, 2021 and checked out without paying.
