PM Modi to visit Al-Hakim mosque in Egypt today
International Desk, 25 June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Egypt’s renowned Imam al-Hakim bi Amr Allah Mosque in Cairo on Sunday as part of his second state visit there after the United States.
The Al-Hakim bi Amr Allah mosque was reconstructed with the assistance of the Dawoodi Bohra community which is thought to make up a sizable portion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) base of supporters in India.
The Dawoodi Bohra community in Cairo considers the mosque to be a significant cultural location. With a focus on the Dawoodi Muslim minority, PM Modi’s visit to the 1,000-year-old mosque is extremely significant in India.
Notably, the Indian leader has always acknowledged the community’s assistance in assisting him in leading the state of Gujarat.
Prime Minister is scheduled to spend nearly 30 minutes at the well-known mosque in Cairo that bears Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah’s (985–1021), the 16th Fatimid caliph’s name.
