Assam Police Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Trafficking, Apprehends Notorious Smugglers in Multi-City Operations

Guwahati, 22nd July: In a bid to tackle the prevailing drug menace in Assam, the state police have launched massive crackdowns against drug trafficking, leading to the apprehension of notorious smugglers in multiple operations across various parts of the state.

In an operation conducted by Nagaon police in Kachua, four smugglers, including a woman, were apprehended on Friday. The police discovered a drug-filled container along with 70 other empty containers in the possession of the smugglers. Additionally, the police recovered one motorcycle from their possession. The arrested individuals were identified as Sirajul Islam, Amir Hamja, Shahidullah, and Sajida Begum.

Concurrently, Guwahati’s Basistha police conducted a raid on Friday, seizing 1 kilogram of ganja and three drug-filled containers from Khanapara flyover in the city. One smuggler, Samrat Marak, was caught red-handed during the operation.

In another major operation against drug trafficking, Cachar police recovered a staggering 365 grams of heroin in Cachar’s Lakhipur. The police seized the contraband concealed in 30 soapboxes during the raid and apprehended two smugglers identified as Hoyan Rangmai and Imanuel Rongmai.

The recent crackdowns reflect the Assam police’s determined efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle illicit drug networks in the state. These operations serve as a stern warning to those involved in such illegal activities and reaffirm the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a drug-free and safer society for all citizens.
