Counterfeit Cash Caper Cracked: STF Nabs Suspects in Guwahati!
Guwahati, 25th July: In a press conference held by the Special Task Force (STF) in Guwahati, the busting of a fake currency racket was announced on Tuesday.
Imdadur Rahman and Rubul Ali were two people who were arrested by the police in relation to the event. A printer for fake currency was confiscated by the STF during the operation.
The raid, which was conducted undercover, resulted in the capture of startling amounts of counterfeit money totaling Rs 72,000. The phoney note cycle has been a major source of worry for the area, having an effect on the local economy and eroding public confidence in the financial system.
In Assam’s Jorabat earlier on June 17, one individual was arrested with counterfeit Indian rupee notes.
Jiyawur Rahman was the individual who was apprehended. He was held in Jorabat’s 8th mile area close to the Ganesh Mandir. According to intelligence, Rahman had counterfeit currency of Rs. 24,50,000 in his possession.
There were several bundles of 500 notes that were seized. Rahman reportedly walked into a police trap after travelling to Jorabat from the Laluk area of Lakhimpur district in order to obtain cash in exchange for the bogus notes.
