Guwahati, 26th July: Tragedy struck on Wednesday as two persons lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in separate road accidents across the state.
In the first incident, a heart-wrenching head-on collision between a Maruti Suzuki car and an Innova at Lakhimpur bypass resulted in the death of a young woman, while six others were injured. The locals immediately rushed the injured to receive urgent medical attention.
In another unfortunate accident, this time in Sonitpur district near Jamugurihat, a collision between a dumper and a motorcycle claimed the life of the pillion rider, identified as Rupak Hazarika. The pilot rider, Nripen Hazarika, sustained serious injuries and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Additionally, at Dorikapar in the Sivasagar district, a coal transporting truck lost control and veered into a roadside ditch. The truck, en route from Ledo in Tinsukia district to Borgaon, Balipara in Tezpur, met with this accident.
The truck involved in the incident bears the registration number AS 02 DC 0722.
