Guwahati, 27th July: In a shocking incident an elderly man was allegedly murdered by two unidentified miscreants while on his way to the mosque in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area on Thursday morning.
The incident happened at Friends Path which is merely 100 meters away from Haitgaon Police Station.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim identified as Javed Ali Ahmed who is a retired engineer and a member of the mosque committee, was heading towards the mosque when he was ambushed and brutally attacked with an iron rod, which was later found at the crime scene.
Despite the proximity of the Haitgaon Police Station, the assailants swiftly executed the assault and managed to escape before immediate intervention could be made. However, the police were alerted promptly after the incident, and an investigation team rushed to the site to begin the inquiry.
CCTV footage acquired from the area captures two men following the victim through the lane where the attack occurred, raising suspicions that they might be the culprits behind the heinous act.
