Guwahati, 5th August: In a successful joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam police, along with the Guwahati city police, intercepted a significant quantity of cannabis and arrested three individuals in connection with the illegal substance on Saturday morning.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the combined STF and city police team conducted the operation near Khanapara flyover and apprehended the trio with 30 kilograms of cannabis in their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh Rai (32), Hrithik Raj (18), and Uday Kumar (19).
Investigations revealed that the seized cannabis was transported from Karimganj district with the intention of being delivered to Baihata Chariali in Kamrup District. However, the timely intervention of the security forces thwarted the smuggling attempt.
The estimated market value of the seized cannabis is said to be worth lakhs.
