Woman Protester Injured in Police Firing During Manipur Protest
Northeast Desk, 5th August: In Manipur’s Imphal West district, a 42-year-old woman protester, Asem Rani Devi, was injured by police gunfire on Saturday. She was among the hundreds of women who had gathered to block NH 102 near Imo filling Oil Pump, Singjamei Chingamathak Nameirakpam Leikai, Imphal West district, around 2.21 pm.
The police opened fire while in pursuit of a car involved in a looting case, leading to the injury of the woman who was struck in her left leg. Swiftly, she was taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, for medical treatment, and her condition is reported to be stable.
Despite her injury, the determined woman conveyed her unwavering resolve to fight for the preservation of Manipur’s territorial integrity, vowing to continue the struggle until her last breath.
