Tragic Collision in Assam’s Karimganj District Claims Two Lives and Injures Five

Guwahati, 8th August: A devastating collision between an autorickshaw and an illegally parked truck in Assam’s Karimganj district on Monday night resulted in two fatalities and left five others severely injured.

The incident unfolded in the Solgoi area of the district. The autorickshaw, carrying passengers including a four-year-old child en route to a hospital, collided with a stationary truck that had been parked illegally on the National Highway. The collision occurred during the night, further complicating the situation for the autorickshaw driver.

Tragically, Radha Ranjan Das, one of the occupants, and Apu Suklapadhya, the autorickshaw’s driver, lost their lives. Apu Suklapadhya succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday. Five other individuals, identified as Sanju Das, Dhunu Das, Rajen Das, Mampi Das, and Rajdeep Das, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for medical treatment.

The driver of the illegally parked truck fled the scene following the collision and remains untraceable at the moment.

This unfortunate incident underscores the importance of adhering to road safety regulations and the need for strict enforcement against illegal parking that can lead to such tragic accidents.
