Gang-Rape Case Registered Amidst Tensions in Manipur
Northeast Desk, 10th August: As tensions continue to grip Manipur, an unsettling incident has come to light. A First Information Report (FIR) was recently registered at Bishnupur Women Police Station, detailing a harrowing incident of alleged gang rape. The victim, a 37-year-old woman from the Meitei community, claims to have been victimized on May 3 in Churachandpur.
The FIR, filed on August 9 at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, Churachandpur, outlines the traumatic incident. The Meitei woman reported that she and others were attempting to flee their homes in Churachandpur when they were confronted and subjected to the alleged gang rape by unknown Kuki miscreants.
Subsequent to the complaint, a medical examination of the victim was conducted to corroborate her claims. The case has been officially handed over to the Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
The “unknown Kuki miscreants” are the subject of a police report charging them with gang rape, assault, and using illegal force to violate the modesty of a woman.
As the situation remains delicate in Manipur, the incident adds to the urgency of maintaining peace and ensuring the thorough investigation of such incidents to uphold justice and restore a sense of security for the affected communities.
