Conjunctivitis Outbreak Forces Temporary Closure of Assam School
Guwahati, 10th August: An outbreak of Conjunctivitis, commonly known as eye flu, has prompted the temporary closure of a school in Barpeta district. The Anundoram Borooah Academy, situated in Pathsala, took the precautionary step of suspending classes after a number of its students were afflicted by the contagious infection.
The decision to halt classes temporarily was made in the interest of student safety, as several pupils contracted the eye flu. The swift action taken by school authorities reflects their commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the students.
Conjunctivitis, characterized by redness, itching, and discharge in the eyes, is known for its ease of transmission in close settings like schools. While the infection is typically not serious, its contagious nature underscores the importance of preventive measures and prompt intervention.
This occurrence comes amidst a surge in conjunctivitis cases in and around the Guwahati city area. Health authorities are likely to be monitoring the situation closely to prevent further spread of the infection.
