NSCN Cadre Killed and ULFA-I Militant Apprehended in Skirmishes

Northeast Desk, 11th August: In a series of operations, security forces have dealt significant blows to insurgent groups operating in the region. A cadre belonging to the Niki Sumi faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) was reportedly killed during a skirmish with Assam Rifles troopers in the Khansi region of Arunachal Pradesh. The deceased has been identified as Wankai Wangsa.

The encounter took place near Borduria village in the Tirap district. The incident underlines the persistent efforts of security forces to counter insurgent activities and maintain law and order.

In another development, an active militant of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was apprehended in Tirap district. Aparichit Asom, also known as Pankaj Asom, the captured cadre, was apprehended in Noglo. It has been revealed that he had managed to escape from a ULFA-I camp located in the jungles of Myanmar.

Acting on intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles troopers conducted the operation that led to the apprehension of the ULFA-I militant. These recent operations underscore the ongoing efforts by security forces to curtail insurgent activities in the region and ensure the safety of the populace.
