Guwahati, 17th August: A grim discovery sent shock-waves through Nagaon’s Barhampur as the half-decomposed body of a missing police official was found floating in the premises of the 9th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Atul Bairagi, an officer posted at the 9th APBn, who had been missing since August 15. His mysterious disappearance had left his colleagues and loved ones deeply concerned.
Tragically, Atul Bairagi’s remains were located floating in the water within the APBn premises this morning. The grim scene prompted the police to swiftly arrive at the location and recover the body in the presence of a magistrate.
