Prominent Hindi Daily Journalist Gunned Down at Residence in Bihar’s Araria
National Desk, 18th August: In a shocking and tragic incident, a journalist associated with the prominent Hindi daily, Dainik Jagran, was shot dead at his residence in Bihar’s Araria district. The victim, identified as Vimal Kumar, had previously been a witness in his younger brother’s murder case.
The distressing incident occurred at around 5:30 am when a group of miscreants arrived at Vimal Kumar’s residence in Prem Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Raniganj Police Station. The assailants called him out and, upon his appearance at the gate, opened fire at close range, leaving him critically wounded. He was immediately rushed to a local government hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Vimal Kumar’s murder involves at least four assailants, according to the police. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the details of the crime.
The District Journalist Association has strongly condemned the incident, highlighting the vulnerability of journalists and citizens alike in the face of such brazen criminal acts. The tragic event underscores concerns about the security and safety of individuals in the region.
