Huge Cash Haul in Anti-Corruption Raid After Engineer’s Arrest

Guwahati, 18th August: In a subsequent development, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell made a significant discovery during their raid on the residence of arrested Public Works Department (PWD) Executive Engineer (R&B), Manuj Kumar Saikia. Following his apprehension on bribery charges, the anti-corruption unit recovered an undisclosed amount of unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 45,54,385 from his home.

The engineer, who was stationed in Haflong Division of Dima Hasao district, was caught in the act when he accepted Rs. 10,000 as a bribe from a complainant on Thursday. This led to his subsequent arrest.

This cash recovery further underscores the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and hold accountable those involved in unlawful activities.
