Police Raid in Assam Seizes Huge Quantity of Burmese Supari and Apprehends Individual
Guwahati, 20th August: In a recent operation in Hailakandi, Assam, police raided a residence to seize 300 bags of Burmese betel nut (dried betel nut) and make an arrest on Saturday night.
The market value of the seized betel nut is estimated at more than Rs. 80 lakhs, highlighting the magnitude of the illegal activity being tackled by law enforcement agencies.
The person arrested in the operation, Rusan Uddin Mazarbhuyan, has been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
The operation follows a similar operation earlier in August, where the STF, Assam, and local police conducted a joint operation to intercept a truck transporting smuggled Burmese betel nut to Guwahati. The success of these programs demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring public safety.
