Three Linkmen of Banned Outfit Arrested for Extortion in Assam

Guwahati, 21st August: In a recent operation, the Assam police have successfully apprehended three individuals linked to the banned insurgent group Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) on charges of extortion. The operation was conducted in the Kokrajhar district.

Reports indicate that a letter, purportedly from the KLO, was sent demanding an extortion amount of Rs 50 lakh from specific individuals. In response to this alarming development, the Karimganj police promptly initiated an operation in the Kashibari area.

During the operation, the law enforcement team successfully arrested the three linkmen associated with the KLO. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pranab Rai (21), Mandeep Rai (19), and Nabayjyoti Rai (22).

Upon their arrest, the trio was brought into custody and a case has been registered against them at the Fakiragram police station. The police’s swift action underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order and curbing illicit activities linked to banned insurgent groups.

This operation serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region by thwarting the activities of such outfits and preventing potential harm to the public and businesses.
