Assam’s Longest Flyover Inaugurated in Maligaon, Guwahati
Guwahati, 30th August: The much-anticipated moment has arrived for the people of Guwahati as Assam’s longest flyover ‘Nilachal Flyover’ was officially inaugurated in Maligaon on Wednesday.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the inauguration ceremony, accompanied by other esteemed cabinet ministers.
Stretching over an impressive length of 2.6 kilometers, the four-lane flyover connects Maligaon Chariali to Kamakhya Temple Road tri-junction, claiming the title of Assam’s longest flyover. The infrastructure project, constructed at a cost of Rs 420 crores, stands as a testament to modern engineering.
The inauguration took place on the auspicious occasion of Rakhi Purnima, and the flyover has been christened the “Nilachal Flyover.”
Adding to its grandeur, Guwahati’s newest architectural marvel, the Maligaon flyover, features a striking rainbow arch and a globe at the Tiniali Junction.
Notably, Chief Minister Sarma shared details about the beautification efforts beneath the flyover. Painted depictions of Assamese attire, musical instruments, scenic forests, and diverse flora and fauna contribute to enhancing the space below the flyover.
