BCCI Announces 15-Member Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Sports Desk, 5th September: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The squad is as follows:

  • Hardik Pandya (vice-captain)
  • Suryakumar Yadav
  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • Axar Patel
  • Shardul Thakur
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Mohammed Shami
  • Mohammed Siraj
  • Kuldeep Yadav

The squad includes a mix of experience and youth, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah leading the way. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav will be looking to make their mark on the big stage, while Hardik Pandya will be hoping to stay fit and contribute with both bat and ball.

The notable absentees from the squad are Ravichandran Ashwin and Sanju Samson. Ashwin is one of the world’s leading spinners, but he has been overlooked in favor of Kuldeep Yadav. Samson is a talented batsman, but he has struggled to cement his place in the team in recent years.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held in India from October 5 to November 29. India will be looking to win their third World Cup title, having previously won the tournament in 1983 and 2011.
