Recovery of Arms and Ammunition in Manipur; Normalcy Returns to Most Areas

Northeast Desk, 12th September: Combined security forces in Manipur, operating in Churachandpur, Imphal East, and Thoubal districts, have successfully recovered nine looted arms, two country-made pistols, 10 different types of ammunition, and a significant cache of explosives.

Authorities have reported that, aside from sporadic incidents, the situation in various parts of Manipur has returned to normal. Manipur Police confirmed that they have facilitated the movement of numerous goods-laden vehicles along the Imphal – Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) to ensure the transportation of essential items.

Stringent security measures have been implemented in vulnerable locations, and security escorts have been provided for sensitive stretches to ensure the safe and unhindered movement of vehicles.

A total of 128 checkpoints, or nakas, have been established in different districts across Manipur, encompassing both hill and valley regions.

Manipur Police has detained over 800 individuals in connection with various law violations in different districts throughout the state.

These actions reflect the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Manipur, with a focus on preventing illegal activities and ensuring the safe movement of goods and people.
