Assam: Police Arrest Three Over Child Marriage

Guwahati, 20th September: In response to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to combating child marriages in the state, a recent police operation in Bilasipara, Dhubri district, led to the arrest of three members of a family over allegations of child marriage.

The operation was prompted by specific information received by the police. Acting swiftly, a team of officers conducted the operation at Bhalukpong gaon in Bilasipara, culminating in the apprehension of three individuals on charges related to child marriage.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahidur Rahman, Addul Karmi, and Kashme Ali. In accordance with the law, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to curbing child marriages every six months underscores the state’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and well-being of children. This recent operation serves as a tangible step in achieving this goal and sending a clear message against child marriages in Assam.
