Guwahati, 22nd September: On the occasion of Srimanta Sankardeva’s Janmotsav in Assam’s Kamrup (Metropolitan) district, liquor sales will be prohibited on September 24, 2023. An order from the Office of the District Commissioner has declared this day as a ‘Dry Day’ under Rule-326 (b) of the Assam Excise Rules, 2016.
The order mandates the closure of all Wholesale/Bonded Warehouse, Composite License/Microbrewery license, IMFL/Beer Retail ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’ shops, including Club ‘ON’ and Country Spirit Shops in Kamrup Metropolitan District on this day. Violation of this order will result in penal action under the relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and Rules.
