Guwahati, 23rd September: In a significant development, the husband of the woman who was killed in front of her one-month-old child was arrested in Assam’s Morigaon district on Friday.
The husband, identified as Pinku Nath, is accused of killing his wife in front of their infant child the night before her body was discovered inside their residence.
“A murder case was reported a few days ago, and today we have arrested one person in connection with the terrible crime,” a police official said. The accused is none other than the deceased woman’s spouse. We learned of his involvement in domestic abuse against his wife before. We have detained him after learning about these instances, and we are continuing our investigation before we file charges. He has been in our care for eleven days at this time.
He continued, “Although he is denying his involvement in the act, we suspect that he is involved based on information from neighbors and some evidence.”
Earlier, there were reports alleging that the woman was raped and murdered, but the police have denied these claims, stating that the post-mortem examination did not reveal any evidence of rape.
The incident occurred on September 19 when the mother of a one-month-old baby was reportedly murdered by unidentified individuals at her residence in the Pasatia area of the district. Local residents have demanded swift action against the perpetrators.
