Major Counterfeit Currency Bust in Assam: Rs 20 Lakh Seized, One Arrested
Guwahati, 26th September: In a significant operation, the Bangalmara Police in Assam’s Lakhimpur district successfully apprehended an individual for allegedly being involved in the supply of counterfeit currencies amounting to Rs 20 lakh.
The arrested individual has been identified as Imdadul Islam, a resident of Ahmedpur no. 1. The counterfeit notes, totalling Rs 20 lakh, were found concealed within a water tank.
While Imdadul Islam has been taken into custody, several others believed to be part of this illegal operation managed to evade capture.
Furthermore, in a separate operation, another supplier of counterfeit notes was arrested from Sonapur no. 2, underscoring the police’s commitment to tackling the issue of counterfeit currency in the region.
