Guwahati, 28th September: A harrowing road accident unfolded in Guwahati’s Ganeshguri area on Wednesday night, resulting in severe injuries to a motorcyclist and four occupants of a vehicle.
As per available information, the vehicle, bearing registration number ‘ML 05U 6813,’ was carrying all four occupants who were reportedly in an inebriated state. High speed and impaired judgment led to the driver losing control, resulting in a collision with a motorcycle before crashing onto a nearby footbridge.
The collision resulted in grievous injuries to both the motorcyclist and the four individuals traveling in the ‘i20’ vehicle. Sources indicate that the youths in the vehicle were from Meghalaya.
Local residents promptly intervened, extracting the injured parties from the wreckage. All five individuals, including the motorcyclist, were swiftly transported to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for urgent medical attention.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported the presence of numerous alcohol bottles inside the vehicle, strongly indicating that the accident was a consequence of drunk driving. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving and the importance of responsible behavior on the road.
