Assam CM Announces Toll Taxes for Upcoming Brahmaputra River Bridges

Guwahati, 29th September: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that toll taxes will be imposed for the use of upcoming bridges over the Brahmaputra River as a means to generate revenue for the state.

The new bridges, which will span the Brahmaputra and connect Sadiya to Dhubri, are expected to require commuters to pay toll fees for access. Chief Minister Sarma made this announcement during an event organized by the transport department.

CM Sarma emphasized the need for individuals to contribute to the government’s finances by paying tolls in order to access these newly constructed Brahmaputra River bridges. Failure to pay tolls would necessitate the use of boats for crossing.

The decision to implement toll charges for bridge usage has sparked significant public concern, raising questions about the potential impact on commuters and the economy.
