Guwahati’s Kalapahar Area Ravaged by Severe Storm and Rainfall, Ongoing Restoration Efforts in Progress
Guwahati, 1st October: Assam’s Guwahati was hit by a powerful storm and heavy rainfall on September 30, leading to extensive damage to buildings and electrical infrastructure within the city. Residents endured prolonged power outages as a result.
The fierce storm wreaked havoc in various parts of Kalapahar, including Shankarpur, Birubari Nizarapar, and Girija Nanda Choudhury Path near Colony Bazar Foothill Society.
Meanwhile, the Assam Power Distribution Company has initiated restoration efforts to bring back electricity to the affected areas.
The state experienced intense rainfall on September 30, coupled with a severe storm that resulted in structural collapses, uprooted trees, and substantial damage to several houses.
