Special needs man locks self inside toilet onboard IndiGo flight, detained later
National Desk, 1st October: A 27-year-old man named Mohammed Kamar Riyaz, who has special needs, was apprehended due to disruptive and inappropriate behavior on a Saturday (September 30) flight from Ahmedabad to Patna operated by IndiGo. During the flight, Riyaz locked himself in the lavatory.
Upon landing, law enforcement officers took him into custody. According to Vinod Peter, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Patna Airport, the airline has filed a complaint against him for causing disturbance and behaving improperly during the flight.
The SHO mentioned that preliminary investigations, a review of his medical records, and statements from his brother, who was also on the flight, all indicate a mental disorder.
Riyaz, who works as a mechanical engineer, hails from West Champaran in Bihar, although he currently resides in Ahmedabad. He and his brother had traveled from Ahmedabad to Patna for medical treatment.
